Viviene grew up in deep in the forests south of the city of Biel. Her family made their living as performers in Commedia dell’arte throughout the countryside and periodically into the neighboring towns. Viviene found herself a natural Harlequin and frequently feigned ‘pickpocketing’ the crowd for their amusement among other practical jokes. Lovely and charming, she became a favorite of the crowds and the Lightfoot clan prospered for many years and enjoyed the camaraderie of a theatre troupe.
When Viviene’s father, Antonio, became sick and could no longer coordinate the troupe’s performances, she conducted the Harlequin’s performance with her brother, Alonzo. Together they performed the ‘fool’s’ act but began pick-pocketing the crowd for real as the other sibling performed the the stunts and Commedia. A master of performance and bluffing the audience, together they supported the family through her father’s retirement on the ‘spare’ gems and coin of their crowds.
Viviene gave up the troupe six months ago after realizing that her talents were better spent elsewhere. Alonzo became a member of the local Thieves Guild, but Viviene has chosen to remain independent, as she finds her looks and charming personality often provide her as much an opportunity for riches as her deft fingers, thieves kit and silk rope do. This has put her at odds with the guild and she has been threatened at times for failure to join. Alonzo has come to her defense as much as he can, but the Guild’s human leader Perinault Gaston is determined to have Viviene’s membership dues….or her head.
Currently, Viviene travels the countryside skirting the law. Though her crimes would have her a wanted criminal, the authorities have yet to pin down who the thief truly is. Thus, she continues to travel in disguise most of the time. She is known by many different alias’ across Meridia and assumes the persona’s of peasants and royalty alike.
Her next stop, the contested city of Biel holds many possibilities for riches. For the Fog of War is just the obfuscation she needs to pull a big job and beleaguered soldiers are easy targets for beautiful women with a sharp tongue and blade.
